The Real Room
Dating with depth
Fifteen women. Fifteen men. One evening of real conversation. No swiping, no profiles, no performing. Just the people actually in the room with you.
Find your roomTwo hours · Live online · Near you
What if you could meet someone without an app, a profile, or a single swipe?
You already know how the apps feel. The endless scroll. The clever opener that goes nowhere. The promising someone who simply disappears.
You are not bad at dating.
The format is bad at you.
How the evening works
One room, real people, two hours
i
We gather the room
Fifteen women and fifteen men from your region, one evening, live online. Small enough to feel intimate, full enough to find a spark.
ii
You meet, one to one
A handful of guided conversations, just the two of you each time, built to move past the small talk and into something honest.
iii
You tell us who stayed with you
Afterward, you share who you would like to see again. We only pass along a match when the feeling is mutual.
iv
You meet in real life
Everyone is local, so the people you connect with are people you can actually meet for coffee this week.
Come back next season and you will never be placed with someone you have already met.
Why it feels different the moment you arrive
- Structure so you can be yourself. The conversations are gently guided, so you are never staring at a blank screen wondering what to say.
- Presence over performance. No profile to polish. No highlight reel. Just how you actually are tonight, which is the only thing that ever mattered.
- Slow enough to feel something. Two hours, not two minutes. Long enough to know whether there is something real here.
- Care is the baseline. Everyone arrives knowing how this works and that a clear no is always welcome. Kindness is the house rule.
- Small and chosen. Thirty people from your area, gathered with intention. Not the entire internet.
This room is for you if
- You are tired of dating apps, but not tired of wanting someone.
- You would trade fifty matches for one real conversation.
- You are ready to date with intention, not just to fill an evening.
- You want to meet people who actually live near you.
- You believe how two people treat each other matters from the very first hello.
Your host
Melanie Hersch
The Real Room is hosted by Melanie Hersch, a licensed marriage and family therapist and former matchmaker who has spent her career helping people find their way back to real connection.
She built this because she kept watching good people give up on dating. Not because they were unlovable, but because the tools were never built for depth. The Real Room is the room she always wished existed.
You do not need to be more interesting, more available, or more anything. You need a room that lets you be real, with people doing the same.
Good questions
Is this just another video call?
No. It is a structured evening with one-to-one conversations and gentle guidance, designed so connection has somewhere to happen. The format does the heavy lifting so you do not have to.
What if it gets awkward?
The whole thing is built to soften that. You always have a prompt to lean on, a host holding the space, and a clear sense of what happens next. Most people are surprised by how natural it feels.
Do I need to be on camera?
Yes, and we mean that warmly. Being seen is the point. It is what makes a real room real.
Where are you holding rooms?
